What is Vertebral Subluxation?

Vertebral subluxation is an alteration in normal spinal position which by the very nature of our anatomy will necessarily impact the delicate nervous system tissues that travel through the spinal column.

Vertebral Subluxation is an alteration of normal spinal alignment.

These shifts in spinal structure are quite common and occur regularly throughout a lifetime due to the various stressful or traumatic events we experience.

One such experience is the birth process itself.

While most people rarely think about the extreme stressors placed upon an infant’s spine as it is being born, chiropractors along with a few other specialists in this area have recognized that birth trauma is a very common experience and can have serious negative consequences for the developing child and their immature nervous system.

Stress

Stress comes in many forms. While birth is a common stressful event that we have all experienced, we also recognize that life is full of various types of stressors.

What we have failed to recognize as a society for the most part is that these stressful events have negative, long-term consequences on the developing child and on our optimal health and function as adults. If left unchecked, this stress accumulates and causes distortions of the spine which further impair our nervous system function and ability to adapt successfully to our environment, both externally and internally.

This leads to a natural and accelerated breakdown of our bodies, health and function.

Correction

Chiropractic discovered over 100 years ago that these alterations in normal spinal structure do in fact negatively impact our health and function, that they can be corrected and that maintaining optimal spinal structure throughout a lifetime has positive health benefits.

It’s a simple concept based upon our complicated anatomy.

Like other simple concepts such as eating well, moving our bodies, having a positive attitude and brushing our teeth, chiropractic reaps huge rewards for those who utilize it as a means to correct and remove this serious form of neurological interference.

If you are wondering if vertebral subluxation may be negatively impacting your child, self or family, call our office so we can schedule a detailed examination which includes comprehensive nervous system scans which will identify if vertebral subluxation is present and the degree of neurological dysfunction impacting your life.

To check is to know, to not is to guess.

We take this very seriously and conduct routine progress exams to check the progress of the corrective process to ensure that the problem is not only improving but going away for good.

Kids and Chiropractic

I’m often asked why children would need chiropractic care. It is understandable that many people would wonder this when one considers that the majority of people believe that chiropractic is for back and neck pain. When one understands that our spine is actually a driver of normal brain development and that the spinal cord is housed […]
